Almond Sticky Buns

Standard

I love almonds. When I visit Samantha we go to the outdoor Green Market that is held on Saturdays. There is a bakery there that has the best Almond Croissants. They are huge and I can eat the whole thing! I found this recipe online on food.com. They were pretty tasty just the way they are, but since I am a almond lover….I would add more almond extract, almonds or maybe even spread almond paste on them.

Almond Sticky Buns

  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons flour
  • 2 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages crescent dinner rolls
  • 1 tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract
  • 1/4 cup almonds, chopped
Glaze:
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 -3 teaspoons milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon almond extract

Directions

  1. Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Combine brown sugar, flour, softened butter, milk, and 1/8 tsp almond extract, and blend well.
  3. Spoon this mixture into 12 ungreased muffin cups.
  4. Unroll crescent dough into 4 rectangles. You will make 2 rectangles out of each can.
  5. Combine melted butter and 1/8 tsp almond extract.
  6. Brush onto dough and sprinkle with almonds.
  7. Starting at the short side, roll each rectangle up like a jelly roll.
  8. Cut each roll into 3 pieces and place them cut side down in muffin cups.
  9. Bake for 15 – 20 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Immediately invert onto serving platter.
  11. Combine glaze ingredients while rolls are baking. Then drizzle over warm buns.

Divide this into the bottom of 12 muffin cups

Cut each roll into thirds to make 12 pieces.

Put rolls on top of brown sugar mixture that is in the bottom of cups. I kind squished the rolls down a little. Put a cookie sheet under these...the brown sugar mixture was about to ooze over the pan but, I caught it in time...whew!

Drizzle with glaze and enjoy!

These remind me of the Mini Cinnamon Rolls I posted on the blog. I think next time I may try and make them into minis. You could also make the Mini Cinnamon into these bigger ones 🙂

Not sure if I will post anymore this year. If not, have a save New Years Eve and New Years Day!
